Terms and conditions.
The terms for using this website and for ordering from Cricklade Hardware. Last updated 30 October 2026.
1. Who we are
Cricklade Hardware is run by Paul Harris at 102 High Street, Cricklade, SN6 6AA. Email paul@crickladehardware.co.uk or call 01793 354752.
2. This website
This website tells you what's in the shop and how to order. You can't buy through the website itself: orders are agreed in the shop, by phone or on WhatsApp.
We try to keep everything on the site correct, but stock changes every day. Products and offers shown are examples, and a product being on the site doesn't mean it's on the shelf today. Ask Paul to check before you make a trip.
The words, photos and design of this website belong to Cricklade Hardware or the people who made them. Please don't copy them without asking. Product names and brands belong to their makers.
3. Prices
Prices on the website are a guide. The price you pay is the one Paul confirms when you order. If we've made an obvious mistake in a price, we'll tell you before you pay and you can choose not to go ahead.
4. Personalised and engraved orders
This covers house signs, Christmas decorations, pet tags, key rings and anything else made or engraved for you.
- Your words: you send the wording, and a photo of the style you like if you have one.
- Your proof: Paul sends you a proof of the wording and layout. Please check spelling, names, dates and numbers carefully. We engrave exactly what you approve.
- Paying: you pay in the shop, or by a card payment link if your order is being posted. We start once the proof is approved and payment is made.
- Natural materials: slate and wood are natural, so colour, grain and texture vary from piece to piece and from photos. This is part of their character, not a fault.
Cancelling: because these items are made to your own wording, the 14-day right to cancel doesn't apply once we've started making your order (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). If you change your mind before Paul starts, just tell him.
Returns: we accept returns of personalised items only if they're faulty, with your purchase receipt. Wording you approved on your proof isn't a fault, so please check it carefully.
5. Delivery
- You can collect from 102 High Street, or we post by Royal Mail anywhere in the UK.
- Postage is confirmed with your proof, before you pay.
- Christmas order dates are shown on the website each year. We can't control Royal Mail delays, but we post as quickly as we can.
- If your parcel arrives damaged or doesn't arrive, tell us as soon as you can and we'll sort it out.
6. Other products
For everything else you buy from us, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply. Goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If something is faulty, bring it back with your purchase receipt and we'll put it right.
If you order non-personalised goods by phone or WhatsApp and we post them to you, you can cancel within 14 days of receiving them. Tell us, return the goods unused within 14 days, and we'll refund you, including the standard postage you paid. You pay the cost of sending them back unless they're faulty.
7. Our responsibility to you
We're responsible for loss or damage that's a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not taking reasonable care. We're not responsible for business losses, or for loss that wasn't foreseeable. Nothing here limits our responsibility where the law doesn't allow it, such as death or injury caused by our negligence, or fraud.
Follow the maker's instructions for any product you buy, especially chemicals, cleaners, tools and electrical goods.
8. Your information
How we use your details is explained in our privacy policy.
9. Problems and the law
If you're unhappy, please talk to Paul first. Most things can be sorted in the shop. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales.
